A Local community centre has been set up at the Pirates Club in Parkhurst and will serve the suburbs of Linden, Emmarentia, Parkview, parkhurst, Parktown North, Craighall, Dunkeld West, Rosebank, Victory Park and Greenside.
All WastePreneurs will Be registered on a database held by each suburb’s local security company, as well as with the local police station. Each WastePreneur will carry a special ID card and will always wear branded bright green WastePreneur bib and cap. they will also work with local security companies to improve security in relevant suburbs by acting as additional eyes and ears on the ground
The recyclable refuse collection is absolutely free for local residents but will generate income for the WastePreneurs themselves. They will get paid the going rate per kilogram for the various categories of waste that they collect. This money will be deposited into a personal debit card , eliminating the risks of cash collection at the hub. This is a NON PROFIT initative sponsored by AD reach (An outdoor media company- leading the way in Socio- Economic Development projects which aim to uplift communities and develop small businesse with sustainable employment opportunities.)
Residents will need to sort the waste into three separate clear refuse bags that will be provided by the WastePreneurs, one for paper and cardboard, one for tins and plastic and one for glass. At this stage only recyclable waste will be able to be collected; organic waste will still need to be collected by Pikitup. These refuse bags will then be left on the pavement outside on the same day as the suburb’s Pikitup collection for the WastePreneurs to collect.
Two measures are being considered:
We have possible solutions to this:
No, the WastePreneurs in a suburb is a positive and not a negative.
